DVC Concurrent and Dual Enrollment

Earning college credit in HS image

What is Dual Enrollment?

Dual Enrollment is a formal partnership between DVC and Alhambra HIgh School. Courses are offered on campus for AHS students.

Benefits:

  • Classes are FREE to students

  • Students earn high school credits AND college units

  • All classes transfer to UC and CSU colleges

  • Courses meet General Ed requirements

  • Successful completion helps demonstrate college and career readiness

  • Looks really GOOD in college applications

* Most classes allow students to earn 1 to 3 college credits upon satisfactory completion and that translates to 3 to 10 high school credits!

Dual Enrollment Application and Registration process

Step 1 - Start the application process by clicking CCCAPPLY

*Important to note at this junction - You MUST finish the entire application. After you receive the CCCID (take a screenshot), and select "continue" to take you to the rest of the Step 1 application. Use PERSONAL EMAIL. You are done when you get the confirmation page. Take a screen shot again as the confirmation number on that page is important.

Now you will need to look out for a DVC's welcome email in your personal email account (this can take up to 12 to 24 hours). You MUST verify your application on this email FIRST before they will give you your DVC Student ID number. With that number, you then go to Step 2a.

Step 2a, Insite - Go to www.dvc.edu then follow instructions. It will ask you to reset your password. Remember this new password. Now you are done on this site. Go to the next step below.

Proceed to Step 2b, Click on Alhambra Dual Enrollment Form. Instructions are available here.

After Step 2b, your parents (or guardian) will receive an email and will need them to sign off (instruction as above, from page 6 to 13).

What happens next - AHS Principal will need to sign off, followed by DVC. You will need to login to your DVC "Insite" portal/email to check status.

Please note that you will NOT be able to complete this process until the three parties endorsed your application.

Step 3: In Insite, go to "Registration" tile, "Register & Drop" to search for Class with section number and add to "Plan".

Step 4: Check insite emails for updates and for when Admission and Records clear you to register.

Step 5: Register and learn how to login and navigate Canvas.

Concurrent (Summer School/Credit recovery) Enrollment Steps:

Step 1: Start application (you will need a new application for the new year) clicking CCCAPPLY. Then "Start a new application".

You will receive a confirmation email AFTER you verify your email address (Check spam if you don't get that email in 12 hours).

Step 2: Insite - Go to www.dvc.edu then follow instructions. It will ask you to reset your password. Remember this new password. Now you are done on this site. Go to the next step below.

Step 3: All high school students must submit the special admission recommendation form, also called a concurrent enrollment form.

The form must be:

  • submitted each term.
  • filled out by the high school principal or designee and list the courses the student wishes to take.
  • signed by the student, parent, and high school principal or designee.
  • submitted online to Admissions and Records.
  • **If the class DOES have a prerequisite you may apply for clearance here. You should do this BEFORE registration starts as it may take about 3 business days for review.
  • Check insite (DVC) email for updates.

Step 4: In Insite, go to "Plan Progress" tile to search for Class with section number and add to "Plan".

Step 5: Check insite emails for updates and for when Admission and Records clear you to register.

Step 6: Register and learn how to login and navigate Canvas.
